Dentists can now use the 3Shape TRIOS® product to create abutments. 3Shape TRIOS ® detects the position of the implant and soft tissue in a two-step process, providing optimal clinical and aesthetic results. With TRIOS ® digital casts, 3Shape labs can immediately create complex digital implant models, customized abutments, and ready-made crowns in a comprehensive workflow that is both easy and enjoyable for the patient.
With 3Shape TRIOS®, dentists can obtain data on the position of a single implant using autoclavable scanner housings that support a wide range of implantation systems.

Taking digital impressions with the 3Shape TRIOS® product provides many benefits for dentists. A simple working procedure replaces the traditional removal of implant casts, which usually took a long time and was accompanied by inaccuracies. Moreover, with TRIOS digital impressions, dentists can save time and money by avoiding such additional steps as making an impression spoon, transferring it to a dental laboratory.
“Scanning implants with 3Shape TRIOS® gives me the opportunity to get not only data on the position of the implant, but also data on soft tissues. Soft tissue images allow my dental laboratory to optimize the fit and aesthetic characteristics of the individual abutment and the final design. This provides good clinical and aesthetic results, thus satisfying the patient, ” says Simon Cold, Doctor of the Implant Center in Herning.

New opportunities for working with implants for laboratories
Thanks to the TRIOS® product, laboratories can receive digital impressions immediately after scanning and immediately begin creating a digital model of the implant, individual abutment and crown. The software of the TRIOS ® Digital Implant Impression product, 3Shape’s Model Builder™ model creation product, and Abutment Designer™ Abutment design product are used together in a comprehensive work procedure.
3Shape’s Model Builder™ CAD/CAM
software allows laboratories to create digital models for implants. Based on the received data on the position of the implant, users can add interfaces for similar implants directly to the model design, including plug-in analogues.
The 3Shape TRIOS®
product is currently available in Europe, and is scheduled to launch in North America and other markets in the third quarter of 2013.
